Cambridge Assessment English: Business Certificates (BEC)
Cambridge English examinations are taken by over 5 million people each year and are accepted by 20 000 companies, educational organisations and governments globally; see www.cambridgeenglish.org/why-cambridge-english/global-recognition). The Cambridge English: Business Certificates (BEC’s) offer qualifications for learners wishing to use English for the purposes of international business. There are tests of reading, writing, listening and speaking as applied to the language of real-world business situations. The topics are similar at each level but a greater range of knowledge and skill is required as levels progress. Details: www.cambridgeenglish.org/
Testing your Level
To check your level ask for our placement test or visit our website (Einstufungstests). Also see the Level description at the beginning of the language programme.
Our preparatory courses normally start in September or February and participants can take the examinations in Nürnberg in November/December or June. There is no obligation to take the exam and the courses are also suitable for those who simply wish to improve their business English at a level appropriate for them. The courses will help you to increase your vocabulary and develop your skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Cambridge English: Business Higher (BEC H) Level C1:
The level of BEC Higher is equivalent to the Cambridge English: Advanced certificate, ie Abitur or above. Topic areas include: social contact with colleagues and clients, meetings, buying and selling, negotiating, company structures, systems and processes, products and services, results and achievements, business issues. Examination tasks include: understanding a variety of business texts such as articles and reports, proofreading a draft text, writing a report, proposal, letter or email, understanding a variety of spoken texts, participating in a discussion and giving a short presentation.
Experience of business or commerce is an advantage but is not absolutely necessary.
