Cambridge Assessment English Certificates

Cambridge English examinations are taken by over 5 million people each year and are recognised by 20 000 universities, employers and goverments globally; see www.cambridgeenglish.org/why-cambridge-english/global-recognition). The three examinations here are all test your spoken and written English, your understanding of authentic reading and listening texts and your knowledge of vocabulary and grammatical usage. They share a common format but differ in details and above all in the level of competence required. Details: www.cambridgeenglish.org/

Testing your Level

To check your level ask for our placement test or visit our website (Einstufungstests). Also see the Level description at the beginning of the language programme.

Our preparatory courses normally start in September or February and participants can take the examinations in Nürnberg in November/December or May/June. There is no obligation to take the exam and the courses are also suitable for those who simply wish to improve their English at an appropriate level. The courses will help you to expand your vocabulary, be more confident about English grammar, and develop your skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Certificate English: Advanced (CAE) Level C1

Cambridge English: Advanced offers a high level qualification to those wishing to use English for academic or general professional purposes. There are tests of reading comprehension, command of vocabulary, structure and spelling, writing (e.g. letter, essay, report), listening and speaking (pair interview). The CAE is accepted as a language qualification by many universities worldwide; see www.cambridgeenglish.org/why-cambridge-english/global-recognition). The courses will help you to develop your knowledge of English and become more confident in applying your language skills. To join, your English should be at Abitur level or above. However, you need not have learned it all at school!

Cambridge English Advanced CAE Fast Track Course:

This course will prepare you in one semester for the CAE examination in May 2019. To join the course your English should be very close to the level required in the exam, ie at least Abitur. You should also be prepared to spend time outside the classroom on reading and written work.

Please bring the coursebook on the first day: Complete Advanced, Second edition, Student's Book with answers, Klett Verlag (ISBN 978-3-12-535161-5), selections only
